Every company or organization has a responsibility and legal obligation to oversee and ensure that any contractors visiting their place of work operate in a safe way.
SAFEcontractor
Applewood Data Services Ltd are proud accredited members of SAFEcontractor. The SAFEcontractor Charter Standards set down the benchmark against which the modern day contractor is assessed.The SAFEcontractor standards cover essential core elements such as health and safety policy, risk assessment and first aid, but also include site specific requirements relating to the activity for which accreditation is being sought, such as confined spaceworking or working at heights.

Risk Assessment Training
We have engineers trained in risk assesment skills. This enables them to assess and complete risk assessments with accuracy and confidence.
These are some of the areas of competency covered:
- Identify hazards in the workplace
- Evaluate levels of risk
- Develop control measures to reduce levels of risk
- Carry out written risk assesments
1st Aid Training
1st Aid training is given to every single member of the Applewood Data Services team, not just the engineering and site staff. We feel very strongly about the importance of being prepared in the work place. Repeat training is updated every 3 years
Confined Space Training
Some engineers at Applewood Data Services Ltd have a CS1 qualification in Confined Space Training. As the HSE legislation progreses in this vital area of Health and Saftey in the work place. We have a team of engineers trained to assess, manage and procure proceedures including gas metering and emergency evacuation.
IPAF Training
Applewood Data Services Ltd engineers are holders of IPAF (International Federation of Powered Access) PAL cards. This ensures our engineers are qualified to operate all kinds of powered access plant equipment such as scissor lifts, articulated booms and vechicular lifters.
The PAL Card (Powered Access Licence) is recognised well over the world as proof of powered platform operator training to the highest standard. It is issued by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) to platform operators who successfully complete a training course at an IPAF-approved training centre.
CSCS Training
Construction Skills Certification Scheme is further commitment to our Health and Saftey at work to both our Staff and clients.All our engineers are CSCS registerd and hold current CSCS cards when on site.
CSCS was set up to help the construction industry to improve quality and awareness as well as reducing the number of accidents on site. CSCS cards are increasingly demanded these days as proof of occupational competence by contractors, public and private sector clients.
DBS Checks
DBS Checks have been carried out on every member of the Applewood Data Services on site team. The DBS is an Executive Agency of the Home Office set-up to help organizations make safer recruitment decisions. this means that Applewood Data Services Ltd is cleared for immediate work in schools, colleges, universities organzations within the banking sector and the Ministry Of Defence.
Asbestos Awareness Training
Applewood Data Services Ltd is continuing with our commitments in our approach to health and safety with all of our staff recently trained in the awareness of asbestos. A measure taken to protect both our staff and clients alike. Our training skills include a history and facts of asbestos and its properties. Recognition and identification of asbestos types and characters, measures and procedures of reporting found or suspected asbestos.
